The Result Both of these types of diabetes are equally problematic for the body. They cause two extremes to happen within. Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia can happen. These conditions are what cause the signs of diabetes to be seen by you.
In hyperglycemia, the body has too much blood sugar in it. In hypoglycemia, there is not enough sugar in your blood. (The body takes food that you eat and breaks them down into sugars. This sugar is called glucose once it enters the blood stream.)Each of these conditions has their own symptoms. Here is a break down of what you may experience. Those suffering from hyperglycemia where there is too much sugar in the blood will experience these signs of diabetes: - They will have to use the restroom for urination often. They may also have excessive amounts of urine that are no longer what their normal amounts are.
- They are often very thirsty and will need to drink often and a large amount of drink to stop their thirst.
- They are often hungry more often. In comparison to someone else, they may have a greater feeling of hunger.
There are also additional signs of diabetes that can be experienced. This includes the following: - Weight loss due to a loss in the appetite is a common situation for those experiencing this condition.
- Fatigue may set in. They often feel weak or unable to do the things that they have always or used to do.
- They have a shortness of breath without doing anything to physically cause this to happen to them. For example, a normal person would run and become short of breath while someone that is facing a sign of diabetes will be out of breath much faster and without a lot of activity causing it.
- Some that face high blood sugar over a longer period of time may have vision problems that get progressively worse over time.
- Tingling in their muscles including a shooting pain or sensation can happen. In some cases, people say it feels like a stabbing pain. These are all evidence of some nerve damage.
- For some men, the signs of diabetes may be impotence.
When hyperglycemia progresses, it becomes a condition known as ketoacidosis where there are some additional signs. These signs include breath that smells fruity, cramping in the stomach, mental confusion and nausea and sometimes vomiting without being ill. Those that are suffering from hypoglycemia which is the condition where there is not enough blood sugar in the body will experience different signs of diabetes. These include the following: - Headaches that are unexplainable or intense.
- Dizzy feelings and the feeling of being unbalanced or unsteady.
- Tremors for no understandable reason.
- Hunger that is frequent and great especially in comparison to what was considered to be normal.
- Clumsiness which is the result of the inability to control muscle reactions.
- Mental confusion is another condition that is a sign of diabetes, being unable to focus or remember simple things.
- Anxiety levels rise as well as a feeling of being irritated by simple and small things.
Those that are suffering from diabetes may not recognize some of these signs of diabetes themselves. In fact, it is likely that a friend or family member will need to let them know that they are suffering from this condition. |
